Honors enriches its students’ extracurricular experience through an extensive program of cultural events, discussions, social occasions, and excursions both within and beyond the Baltimore-Washington area.

Dr. Sondra Guttman, professor from the English department, will receive the 2026 Teaching Faculty Excellence Award.

After the presentation by CFH Student grant coordinator, Dr. Brett Butler and past student recipients, there will be time for pizza and conversation.

NATIONAL FRENCH WEEK - "Between Friends and Enemies: Franco-American Relationships"

To celebrate National French Week in 2026, events will include a French Walking Tour of Washington with "Washington en Français," a geo-guesser game hosted by the French club, a French fusion food event, a film showing, and a field trip to the French Hermitage Plantation (Frederick, MD)

"Resisting Backstory"
talk by Chris Terry

Terry's talk centers on a new novel-in-progress that explores the effects of gentrification in a Black neighborhood. Terry will explore how the horror genre often reckons with history, and includes villains that are stuck in the past.

Wednesday, 10 - Thursday, 11   Student-Faculty Colloquia for the 2027 Humanities Symposium 

Two days during the official Symposium week are set aside for Âé¶¹´«Ã½ student/faculty colloquia. During each scheduled class period, faculty and their classes will meet with faculty and students from other classes. These colloquia have traditionally been led by panels composed of faculty members from different disciplines who lead informal discussion, posing questions to stimulate the participation of students, and to engage the Symposium text across narrow disciplinary boundaries. 
The colloquia will be in-person. They are open to Âé¶¹´«Ã½ faculty, staff, and students.

Honors Class of 2027 Wine Tasting

An annual event that the Honors Program sponsors for the graduating seniors. It is a lovely evening with some super wines and plenty of carefully selected finger foods to accompany the wines. Learn and ask questions about food, wines, wine making, wine tasting, the wine industry, and  other wine related topics. Audience participation is part of the fun!
